How to Determine the Correct Shoe
Size
Here are two ways of finding your size. We call them
the "Low Tech" and the "High Tech" methods...
Method #1 The "Low Tech" Method

Get a ruler and measure the width of the foot at it's widest location.
Then look at our sizing chart
to determine which size best matches this width. You can
also measure the length of the foot, and check that on our chart,
but it is somewhat less important than width. Also, keep
in mind that we have two shapes: "N" for Narrow,
and "W" for Wide. The image below gives you an
idea of the difference -- the Narrow shape is better for an "oval-shaped"
foot, and the Wide shape is better for a "round-shaped"
foot. The shoe can be rasped or grinded to shape it -- but if you
need to take off more than 1/8" then you should have had the
next smaller size. Very often, no shaping of the shoe is needed
at all.

If you measure your horse's foot, and find that the
width is close to or even greater than the length, then you want
a wide (W) size. Feet whoose width is about the same as the
length are round-footed and will want our Wide pattern. Feet where
the length is significantly longer than the width will want the
Narrow (N) pattern.
Keep in mind, that in an ideal world, you would measure
the foot after it has been trimmed - that's the size you want to
fit to. If you're measuring a foot that hasn't been trimmed in 6
weeks, you may end up with a shoe that's too big once the foot is
trimmed.
Why not order a couple sizes? Then you are sure, and
you can always return unused shoes for a refund.
Now if you really want to be sure you are getting
the correct size, you should use...
Method #2 The "High Tech" Method
We have developed a free software program that you can download
from this web-site which you can use to find the best size for any
foot! The "EponaShoe Fitter" program is easy to use: you'll
need a digital camera to take a picture of the sole of the foot,
and you'll need to have a scale marker (something of known size
- like a ruler) in the image. Then put the image on your PC and
start up EponaShoe Fitter! The image below shows a foot with the
outline-image of the best EponaShoe for that foot.

You can try different sizes on to see how they would fit on that
foot, and also see exactly where the nail holes will be. Or, you
can let the computer find the best size for you! If you want to
give it a try click the link below:

Size' shoes.)
